Would You Join Me Tonight at 7pm Central?
Tune in to See Mr. Richey and his Delta Youth Chorale in Spring Concert
Thank you for reading Musically Speaking. Suppose you are wondering the how and why of what I do. Tonight is one of the prominent events in my work. Ten years ago, I started a youth community chorus that is unlike the average choir. It is called the Delta Youth Chorale. These children are non-auditioned, and I attempt to give them a joy of music literacy and a love for great masterworks.
Tonight’s concert will feature high schoolers singing a lesser-known 18th-century composer from Italy, Baldassare Galuppi, and his Latin setting of Psalm 110 (Dixit Dominus). These students will also sing Arvo Pärt, Moses Hogan, Morten Lauridsen, and more. Over the past few years, we have strived to make the LIVESTREAM of these concerts professional in their video and audio quality. Thanks for your readership of Musically Speaking and your notes of encouragement to me over the past year. Feel free to tune in LIVE or after the fact with the link below:
By tuning in, I trust you will be encouraged by how a motley crew of young people can come together to sing challenging works with skill and precision. For those new to this publication, it will also give greater context to the music education work I am doing in a classical Christian School. Feel free to join us virtually. Use the link above or search “Delta Youth Chorale Spring 2023, and you’ll find the YouTube streaming link. Tonight’s concert culminates our tenth year of singing in northeast Louisiana.
